Legal Secretary - Private Client
Location: South Manchester
Salary: £28,000 per annum
Working Hours: Full-time, Office-Based (Monday to Friday)

The Role

A well-regarded South Manchester law firm is looking for an experienced Legal Secretary to join its busy Private Client department. This is a full-time, office-based position supporting fee earners who handle a broad range of private client matters including Wills, Probate, Trusts, Estate Administration, and Powers of Attorney.

The role is ideal for someone who enjoys being part of a supportive team, thrives in a traditional office environment, and takes pride in delivering high-quality administrative and secretarial support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing secretarial support to private client fee earners and solicitors.
  • Audio and copy typing of legal documents, correspondence, Wills, and probate paperwork.
  • Managing diaries, scheduling appointments, and organising meetings.
  • Preparing bundles and legal forms, including Oaths, LPA applications, and HMCTS documentation.
  • Handling incoming calls, taking detailed messages, and liaising with clients in a professional and empathetic manner.
  • Opening, closing, and archiving files in line with firm procedures.
  • Assisting with general administrative duties as required (filing, scanning, photocopying).
Requirements
  • Previous experience as a Legal Secretary, ideally within a Private Client or Wills & Probate department.
  • Excellent audio typing skills (minimum 60 wpm).
  • Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office and case management systems.
  • High attention to detail and a proactive, organised approach to workload.
  • Professional and confident client-facing manner.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive client matters with discretion.
