Job summary

A fast-growing technology group in the UK is seeking an Interim Privacy Counsel for a 3-6 month contract. This role focuses on leading data privacy and UK GDPR compliance across multiple entities and advising on employment law issues. The successful candidate will be a qualified lawyer with strong experience in data protection law, ideally within a technology business. The position is mainly remote, with minimal required travel to the office in Berkshire.

  • Strong experience in data privacy / data protection law, ideally within a technology or multi-entity business.
  • Good working knowledge of UK employment law.
  • Confident operating autonomously in a remote-first environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on data privacy and UK GDPR compliance.
  • Review intercompany and employment-related documentation.
  • Advise on UK employment law issues intersecting with privacy.
  • Support the creation of group-wide standards and templates.
  • Partner with HR and IT to provide business-focused advice.
  • Manage external counsel as necessary.

About the Company

We’re looking for an experienced Interim Privacy Counsel to support a fast-growing technology group that has expanded through multiple acquisitions. You’ll play a key role in aligning and standardising data privacy and employment practices across several legal entities, helping the business operate with consistency and compliance as it scales.

About the Role

Interim Legal Counsel (Employment & Data Privacy) Contract, 3-6 months Mainly Remote, UK Based, with minimal travel to office in Berkshire may be required monthly.

Responsibilities
  • Lead on data privacy and UK GDPR compliance, ensuring policies, processes, and data-sharing agreements are aligned across the group.
  • Review and harmonise intercompany and employment-related documentation, including HR data handling and privacy notices.
  • Advise on UK employment law issues where they intersect with privacy, policy, or organisational change.
  • Support the creation of group-wide standards, templates, and governance processes.
  • Partner with HR, IT, and leadership teams to provide pragmatic, business-focused advice.
  • Manage and coordinate external counsel where necessary.
