Qualifications

Overview

Prison Nurse - Manchester

Location: Manchester (or nearby Greater Manchester sites)

Rate: £30-35 per hour (depending on shift type and experience)

Contract: 6 months (with potential extension)

Hours: Full-time or part-time considered (Early, Late, Long Day, and Night shifts available)

We're recruiting experienced Registered Nurses (RGN or RMN) to support healthcare services within the prison estate in Manchester. This is a unique and rewarding role for nurses who are confident working independently and thrive in a fast-paced, secure environment.

Responsibilities
  • Providing nursing care to individuals with a wide range of physical health, substance misuse, and mental health needs
  • Administering medications, wound care, and supporting ongoing treatment plans
  • Responding to medical emergencies and managing complex care needs on site
  • Collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team including prison staff, GPs, and mental health professionals
  • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring care is delivered safely and in line with clinical governance standards
What we're looking for
  • NMC-registered Nurse (RGN, RMN or dual-qualified)
  • Previous experience in custodial, secure, A&E, or community settings (prison experience desirable)
  • Prison clearance (CTC or enhanced DBS with prison vetting) preferred - support available for new applications
  • Confident, resilient, and adaptable approach to care
  • Availability for a minimum of 2 shifts per week
