Job description
Overview

This post is restricted to existing band 7 pharmacy technicians. It provides an opportunity for band 7 pharmacy technicians to take on additional responsibility as the Trust-wide pharmacy technician lead for procurement.

Responsibilities
  • Provide professional leadership and supervision in managing and developing procurement services based on the NPH site.
  • Play a pivotal role in the increased uptake of contract variance claims across the Trust.
  • Ensure the Trust adheres to standing financial instructions and CMU contracts when procuring medicines.
  • Induct and train all staff working in procurement to work to Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Manage pharmacy procurement services to wards, departments and patients effectively and efficiently.
  • Educate, train and appraise pharmacy staff in all aspects of good distribution practice.
  • Provide clinical expertise on drug usage in line with National and Trust policies.
  • Lead on cross-site pharmacy procurement services including contract changes, contract variance claims, shortages and recalls.
  • Manage the procurement team on base site (including band 6 pharmacy technicians, procurement and invoicing officers).
  • Scale contract variance claims and roll out management of Trust-wide procurement contract changes.
  • Tutor trainee pharmacists or pharmacy pre-registration student technicians; provide training to trainee pharmacists, pre-registration students and new staff.
  • Manage induction of new staff and recruitment of Pharmacy staff within the department.
