Principal Lawyer - Commercial and Procurement

£56.5 - £65k per annum

Sellick Partnership are delighted to be working with a reputable and forward-thinking public sector organisation based in Yorkshire to recruit a Principal Lawyer (Commercial and Procurement) to lead a small team.

The role will be hugely diverse, dealing with a range of commercial projects, helping to shape the region!

This role would be well suited to someone who has held a similar role at another public authority, or someone who has some supervision experience and is looking to take the next career step into a formal management post.

About the role

We are seeking a proactive team leader to lead the Commercial and Procurement function and manage a small team, to deliver excellent legal advice in relation to commercial contracts and projects.

The team deals with a range of commercial and procurement functions, including:

  • commercial contracts
  • public procurement regulations
  • intellectual property law
  • infrastructure projects
  • construction law (including using the NEC suite of contracts)
  • public transport schemes
  • major regeneration and energy projects
  • regional adult education, skills and training provision
Responsibilities
  • Lead on all complex and high value public procurements and the drafting and negotiation of commercial contracts
  • Engage proactively and effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including senior officers, Directors, members and government officials in order to most effectively drive the Combined Authority's commercial agenda
  • Shape, lead and manage the Commercial and Procurement service, leading the team to provide the Combined Authority with a proactive, professional, comprehensive legal service

To be considered for this role, you must be a qualified Solicitor or Barrister entitled to hold a current practising certificate or full CILEX (Fellowship) with significant recent post-qualification experience, ideally in a public sector organisation.
