Contract Type: Temp to Perm

Hourly Rate: £27.45 PAYE or £36.35 UMB negotiable

Working Pattern: Full Time

Driving Required: Yes

Role Purpose

As a Principal Environmental Health Officer, your primary goal will be to uplift standards within Croydon\'s private rented sector, protecting the health, safety, and welfare of residents.

You will play a key role in enhancing the renting experience for private renters while ensuring landlords and property agents meet legal obligations.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of up to 6 FTE, including Environmental Health Officers and Housing Enforcement Officers.
  • Lead complex enforcement activities, including legal proceedings and property licensing.
  • Provide expert advice and support on Environmental Health and Housing legislation.
  • Conduct inspections and take statutory actions to ensure compliance with property standards.
  • Develop and implement relevant policies and procedures while keeping up-to-date with statutory guidance.
  • Participate in departmental initiatives and assist in data collection, report writing, and responding to inquiries.
  • Support the Head of Housing Needs and Homelessness as required.
