Job Title: Principal Civil Engineer

This is an incredible opportunity to join my client, an industry-leading, eco-conscious Multidisciplinary Consultancy renowned for lending their expertise to an array of projects across the energy and engineering landscapes. They are actively seeking an experienced, enthusiastic Principal Civil Engineer, with a strong background in drainage and highways design, to join an already-established team of Water Engineers at the office based in the vibrant, culturally-rich city of Manchester.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the completion and submission of complex technical work for a diverse array of projects across the Water Sector
  • Produce, check, amend, and submit reports, calculations, and other technical documents
  • Manage a number of design projects, taking ownership at all stages, from initial inception through to successful delivery
  • Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with clientele and stakeholders across the public and private sectors
  • Oversee all aspects of project delivery, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation, for yourself and other members of the team
  • Provide supervision and support to other colleagues, mentoring them and overseeing their Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
  • Proactively promote company processes, procedures, and regulations, acting as a trusted representative of the business
  • Uphold industry standards, including health and safety regulations, at all times
Required skills and experience
  • A UK Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Civil Engineering
  • Possess Chartered Status with a recognised Professional Body (e.g., ICE)
  • Extensive experience of working in a design-based role in a UK-based consultancy or Local Authority Setting
  • Considerable experience of producing drainage strategies and systems, including Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS)
  • Demonstrable experience of working on other infrastructure projects and highways designs
  • Experience of managing teams of design-based colleagues, as well as projects
  • Outstanding working knowledge of the relevant Section Agreements (to include S104, S106, S38, S278)
  • Proficient in the use of relevant software systems, including Civils 3D, Revit, MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage, Causeway Flow, etc.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
Desirable skills and experience
  • A UK Master's Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline
  • Good working knowledge of AutoCAD, BIM, and Hades software packages
  • An awareness of BS 7671 standards
