  • A relevant planning degree and chartered membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (MRTPI).
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare proposals and contribute to multidisciplinary projects.
  • Commercial awareness and stakeholder negotiation experience.
  • Knowledge of GIS systems and environmental technical disciplines.
  • Self-motivation, excellent organisation, and a collaborative mindset.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Overview

Your new company
A dynamic consultancy working at the forefront of utilities and infrastructure is seeking an experienced Principal / Associate Planner to join a growing Environmental and Planning team made up of 3 consultants.
This team plays a vital role in enabling major infrastructure projects that support environmental progress and sustainability goals.

Your new role
As a Principal / Associate Planner, you will:

  • Lead or manage a small team delivering environmental planning services across diverse projects and sites with varying sensitivities.
  • Conduct feasibility assessments, screening, scoping, and planning coordination in line with UK environmental and planning legislation.
  • Prepare and deliver planning applications and technical reports.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, technical specialists, and planning authorities.
  • Take ownership of team performance, drive progress, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Support wider business development and cross-sell services across disciplines.
  • Mentor junior staff, provide constructive feedback, and support their development.
  • Engage in company initiatives, events, and internal groups to promote a positive workplace culture.
  • Ensure all work complies with legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations.
