Overview

Primary Teaching Assistant role with immediate start until July 2026. Typical daily rate: £81 - £102. Based at a 'Good' primary school in the Ward of Yardley. Focus on 1:1 and small-group reading interventions.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver targeted reading support across KS1 and KS2.
  • Run phonics and guided-reading groups.
  • Provide 1:1 fluency and comprehension practice.
  • Help pupils build stamina and confidence in reading.
  • Prepare simple resources, log impact, and share next steps with class teachers.
The Candidate

You communicate clearly, build rapport quickly, and keep sessions purposeful. You’re organised, patient, and motivated to help pupils make measurable gains in literacy.

Requirements
  • Degree – A 2:2 or above in any subject.
  • Communication – Clear, confident verbal and written skills.
  • Enhanced DBS – Held already or willing to obtain.
  • Desire to work in education/with children – Genuine commitment to pupil progress and wellbeing.
  • Experience working with children – Any relevant experience (tutoring, mentoring, volunteering) is desirable but not essential.
