About the Role

Local Education is working closely with a specialist education setting in Ipswich to recruit a confident and adaptable Primary Teacher for a January start. This role is initially required for up to a term, with the potential for extension depending on need.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work in an alternative education environment supporting pupils who benefit from consistent routines, clear expectations and strong, nurturing relationships. The setting works with children across KS1 and KS2 who present a range of additional needs and learning styles.

The Pupils

Pupils may include:

  • Children working below age‑related expectations
  • Pupils with SEN, including ASD and ADHD
  • Speech, language and communication needs
  • Pupils who thrive with structure, relational approaches and trauma‑informed practice

The children are engaging, responsive and benefit greatly from calm, confident teaching and predictable routines.

Who We’re Looking For

We are keen to speak with:

  • Qualified Primary Teachers with experience in SEN, alternative provision or specialist settings
  • Teachers currently working in mainstream schools who are looking to transition into alternative education
  • Confident, resilient practitioners with strong behaviour management and a relational approach
  • Experience with trauma‑informed practice, SEND support or intervention‑based teaching is highly desirable, but not essential for the right candidate.
