Key Responsibilities

As an SEN/SEMH Teacher, your role is crucial to the success and well-being of the pupils. You will be responsible for:

  • Creating and delivering personalised lessons that meet the specific academic, social, and emotional needs of each pupil.

  • Implementing proactive and positive behaviour management strategies to support pupils with challenging needs.

  • Providing consistent emotional and pastoral support to pupils, acting as a trusted adult they can turn to.

  • Collaborating with teaching assistants and the SENCO to plan and deliver a stimulating curriculum.

  • Meticulously tracking and reporting on pupils' progress against their individualised education plans.

Requirements

To succeed in this position, you must possess:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.

  • A proven background in teaching pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

  • An Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply for a new one).

  • The legal right to work in the UK without any restrictions.

  • A calm, patient, and highly resilient approach to working with young people.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong, trusting relationships.

  • Specific training in areas such as Team Teach, Makaton, or PECS is highly desirable.
