Overview

Primary SEN Teacher – Mainstream – Waltham Forest, London. An experienced SEN Primary Teacher is sought to join a 2 Form Entry mainstream primary school in Waltham Forest, London, for an ASAP or January 2026 start. The role involves teaching a small class of pupils with additional needs as part of the school’s ARP. This is a full-time position for the duration of the academic year, with a permanent contract available in the summer term for the right candidate.

Responsibilities
  • Teach a small class of pupils with SEN as part of the ARP.
  • Plan and prepare lessons according to the pupils’ EHC plans and the National Curriculum.
  • Collaborate with the SENCO, Teaching Assistants, and other staff to meet pupils’ learning and behavioral needs.
  • Utilise the school’s resources, including a sensory room and outdoor facilities, to support learning.
  • Contribute to ongoing assessment and provide progress updates as required.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the National Curriculum and its learning outcomes for relevant year groups.
Qualifications
  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) and experience teaching the UK National Curriculum.
  • Experience or confident ability to work with children who have special educational needs in a mainstream setting.
  • Strong teamwork and reliability; a supportive, empathetic approach and a willingness to collaborate with a team of Teaching Assistants and school staff.
