Job Overview

We’re looking for a dynamic and experienced Digital Project Manager to join our Primary Care Team at Leicestershire Health Informatics Service (LHIS). This is an exciting opportunity to lead digital transformation projects across Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland, supporting GP practices and system partners to deliver innovative, patient-focused solutions.

You’ll be responsible for the end-to-end management of digital projects, ensuring robust change management and high-quality delivery. Working closely with ICB colleagues and GP Practices, you’ll play a key role in shaping and implementing digital solutions that improve care and efficiency in Primary Care.

Main Duties of the Job
  • To manage one or many primarily IT projects with supporting training and change functions within HIS delivering to the client organisations, co-ordinating the service offered by the specialist teams and external suppliers.
  • To ensure that projects are delivered seamlessly within a single programme of work along complete care pathways between healthcare sectors to avoid silo working and retrospective project alignment.
  • Coordinate activities with the Locality Systems Engineers to ensure LHIS delivers identified work packages seamlessly.
  • To develop and maintain appropriate project documentation for project boards, which must, at minimum, consist of PIDs, Project Plans, Highlight Reports, Risk Logs, Project Issues, and Project Closure reports.
  • To perform the Prince role of Project Manager for the HIS on project boards and ensure ample opportunities for project board members to receive agreed actions and risks before the next project board.
  • Ensure that all projects adhere to Prince 2 methodology and maintain good record keeping for post-project audit and review.
  • To work with key stakeholders within in-flight projects to maintain good communication and engagement, helping to remove barriers to change or success.
  • Ensure that benefits are captured during the project and quantified at the project closure.
  • To undertake the development of business cases and option appraisals if required.
  • Work with other project manager colleagues to maximise project staff use and ensure that their skills are efficiently used between projects.
  • Responsible for managing project funds and reporting expenditures via the highlight report to a project board.
  • To represent HIS at specific external regional/national forums with respect to the National Program of IT or similar IM&T initiatives specifically related to the project/product.
  • To represent the interests of the customers at programme/project delivery meetings with NHS England / ICB / Practice Locality Meetings and similar forums.
  • To engage with and influence the implementation of the National Programme for IM&T.
  • To produce project summary information for Programme Delivery and Performance Boards as required.
  • To work with customers to develop business cases and bids to initiative projects
  • To advise customers on the phasing of potential projects so that they can maximise the use of resources within their SLA with HIS.
  • To develop and maintain appropriate levels of awareness of products and services from suppliers to the NHS so that customers can be informed about IM&T options available to them regarding issues they face.
  • Liaise with NHS England regarding specific care settings or product forums, e.g., Provider reference group, SystmOne Project manager forum, and Mental Health reference group, on behalf of HIS customers.
  • To deputise for the Senior Project Manager as required.
