Responsibilities
- Provide high quality care and education for all children and support for families.
- Provide a broad and balanced Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum that meets national and local standards.
- Follow Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and the Early Support Programme for children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and implement that learning in the workplace.
- Observe and monitor children’s development, contribute to written reports of their progress and implement that learning in the workplace.
- Report any suspicious or suspected non‑accidental injury in accordance with Departmental Child Protection Procedures and Local Safeguarding Children Board Procedures (West Yorkshire Consortium Procedure Manual).
- Understand and support Leeds City Council and Departmental Policies, including Equal Opportunities and Health and Safety.
- Undertake other duties commensurate with the post or grade.
- Undertake the accountabilities of the post in accordance with Council policies, including Equal Opportunities and Health and Safety.
- Refer parents and families to support where necessary.
- Report any injury or accident ensuring the health and safety of the individual is maintained.
- Take responsibility for a group of children during any building evacuation.
- Provide educational visits for children and families, observing Health and Safety policies.
- Maintain client confidentiality.
- Comply with Council values, behaviours and codes of conduct.
- Commit to continuous improvement and work towards delivering the Best City ambitions of Health & Wellbeing, Inclusive Growth and Zero Carbon.
- Understand and observe Leeds City Council equality and diversity policies.

Requirements
- GCSE in English (grade C / 4) or equivalent; Maths (grade C / 4) desirable.
- Right to work in the UK (UK or Irish citizenship, EU Settlement Scheme or relevant work visa).
- If sponsored, must meet the standard salary threshold of £41,700 per year or satisfy other sponsorship criteria for the Skilled Worker visa.
This role is based in the United Kingdom. Home Office guidance states that candidates must evidence their right to work in the UK prior to commencing employment, either as a UK or Irish citizen, under the EU Settlement Scheme or having secured any other relevant work visa.
