Job summary

A regional primary care network in the United Kingdom is looking for an experienced Practice Manager to lead day-to-day operations and staff management in a well-established GP practice. You will oversee HR processes, manage practice finances, and ensure compliance with health standards. Ideal candidates should have a strong background in managing complex service environments, excellent communication skills, and knowledge of primary care ensuring high-quality patient services. Qualifications

  • Proven management experience in a complex service environment like primary care.
  • Strong people management skills for leading and developing teams.
  • Understanding of HR processes and employment best practices.
  • Confident in financial and business management with budgeting skills.
  • Excellent communication skills to build effective relationships.
  • Highly organised and able to work under pressure.
  • Confident IT user, comfortable with EMIS and digital tools.
  • Experience in a GP practice or primary care environment.
  • Knowledge of GP contracts, QOF, and PCN arrangements.
  • Experience with CQC and clinical governance frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and management for non-clinical staff.
  • Oversee practice operations to maintain efficient patient services.
  • Lead HR processes such as recruitment and employee relations.
  • Manage practice finances including budgets and payroll.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and contractual requirements.
  • Support the GP Partner in quality and income maximisation.
  • Collaborate with PCN, ICB and other system partners.
  • Lead on practice policies and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee IT systems and support digital access for patients.
