About the Role

Highwoods Surgery is a friendly and supportive practice with an expanding population and we are looking for an experienced practice nurse to join our team to deliver high quality, patient‑centred care, across both Highwoods and Bluebell sites, on a part time basis, with the hours / days to be discussed at interview. The ideal candidate will have good all‑round experience to complete the following duties :

  • Cervical cytology.
  • Childhood and adult Immunisations.
  • Travel vaccinations.
  • Wound care.
  • Contraception.
  • Infection control.
  • Asthma and COPD clinics and reviews.

We reserve the right to close this position early if the right applicant is found.

About the Candidate

All applicants should have the following qualifications, registrations, skills and experience :

  • A relevant nursing degree.
  • Current NMC registration with an active PIN.
  • Fundamentals of Practice Nursing course (General Practice Nurse Foundation Programme) or equivalent experience or qualifications.
  • Competence to undertake asthma, COPD and reviews, holding relevant certificates.
  • Evidence of clinical skills and experience in treatment room consultation, phlebotomy, ECG recording, screening, management of long‑term conditions, cervical cytology sampling, vaccinations and immunisations, assisting with minor surgery, dressing and wound care.
  • Compassionate manner with an empathetic approach and demonstrable kindness in all aspects of your work. The successful candidate will value the dignity of our patients, their relatives and carers, as well as their colleagues at the practice.
  • Knowledge, and experience of its application, in supporting long‑term conditions.
  • Insight and understanding of current issues in nursing and the wider NHS.
  • Knowledge of SystmOne would be an advantage, but training will be given to the right candidate.
