Overview
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail‑driven Portfolio Assurance Analyst to support governance, reporting and delivery assurance across a large and complex change portfolio. This role is critical in providing clear insight, risk visibility and high‑quality reporting to senior leadership, ensuring programmes and projects are well‑controlled, aligned to strategic objectives, and supported by accurate, consistent data.
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio Assurance & Governance
- Support the PMO and Portfolio Leads in assessing project health, progress, risks and dependencies across multiple programmes.
- Conduct independent assurance reviews to evaluate compliance with delivery frameworks, stage gate requirements and governance standards.
- Identify gaps, inconsistencies and emerging risks within project artefacts, plans and RAID logs.
- Monitor adherence to project controls and highlight areas requiring intervention or escalation.
Reporting & Insights
- Collate and interpret complex project data sets from tools such as KeyedIn, Jira, MS Project, Power BI and financial systems.
- Produce high‑quality portfolio dashboards, status reports, and detailed executive summaries for senior stakeholders.
- Translate technical or detailed delivery information into clear, concise, business‑focused insights.
- Develop and maintain standardised reporting templates to drive consistency.
Data Quality & Analysis
- Validate data submissions from project managers and challenge discrepancies or incomplete data.
- Analyse progress, budget position, forecasting, resource demand and risk exposure across the portfolio.
- Identify trends, performance gaps and early warning indicators to support proactive decision‑making.
- Contribute to portfolio planning cycles and capacity planning reviews.
Continuous Improvement
- Support the refinement of portfolio governance processes, standards and reporting frameworks.
- Provide recommendations for improving project controls, data quality and PMO maturity.
- Assist with the rollout of new tools, methodologies and reporting capabilities.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience in portfolio assurance, PMO analysis, project controls or programme reporting within complex change environments.
- Strong analytical ability, capable of interpreting large, multi‑source data sets and identifying meaningful insights.
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to produce polished, professional and executive‑level reports.
- Highly proficient with PPM tools; experience with KeyedIn is ideal.
- Strong knowledge of project and programme management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, hybrid).
- Advanced skills in Excel and working knowledge of data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI).
- Able to challenge constructively, influence stakeholders and support improvements across the portfolio.
- High attention to detail, strong organisational skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Experience working in large, matrixed organisations is advantageous.
Qualifications
- Degree in Business, Project Management, Data Analysis or a related field (or relevant experience).
- PMO, project management or analysis certifications (e.g., PRINCE2, APM, P3O) are beneficial.
