Linux Engineer

3 Days On Site in London

Description

My client is looking for a Linux engineer to join us on a contract basis. You will be responsible for hands on deliver of the security hardening, stabilisation and lifecycle upgrades across the CCTV estate of our client. The role focuses on infrastructure, operating systems and security controls rather than application or user interface development.

Key Responsibilities

Perform operating system upgrades and security patching on CCTV servers and supporting infrastructure

• Apply firmware updates and vendor-recommended security fixes
• Remove shared credentials and implement secure identity and access controls
• Harden servers and services in line with enterprise security standards
• Support discovery and documentation of existing CCTV configurations and dependencies
• Implement and improve monitoring, logging and alerting integrated with security operations

Required Skills and Experience

• Hands‑on experience with Linux operating systems
• Strong experience in infrastructure or platform engineering roles
• Proven background in security hardening, patch management and access control
• Experience working with cloud-hosted and hybrid infrastructure
• Experience operating across large distributed estates preferred
• CCTV or physical security platform experience desirable but not required
