Job description

Salary: £30,818 - £33,997 per year
Location: Scottish Borders
Hours: Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week, with occasional stand‑by hours
Contract: Permanent
Closing Date: Thursday 8 January 2026, 5.00pm

Role Overview

The successful candidate will carry out all aspects of plastering / roughcasting work as required to Tenant's homes and communal areas. You will ensure all work is delivered efficiently, safely, and to a high‑quality standard, demonstrating excellent customer service and respect for our Tenants at all times.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver plastering / roughcasting duties in line with repair, maintenance, and planned refurbishment schedules to the Association’s properties.
  • Record work undertaken and accurately report any resource use or further requirements.
  • Responsible for maintaining materials, tools, and van stock in good order and ensuring safe storage and transport.
  • Always adhere to Health and Safety guidelines to protect yourself, colleagues, tenants, and the public.
  • Work efficiently both independently and as part of a team to meet programme deadlines.
  • Maintain high levels of communication with tenants, ensuring minimal disruption and a customer‑centred approach.
  • Keep up to date with best practice, Association policies, and tenant participation commitments.
Essential Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
  • City & Guilds Level 2 qualification in Plastering (or equivalent relevant training and on‑the‑job experience).
  • Time‑served Plasterer / Roughcaster with proven experience in domestic repair, maintenance, or refurbishment environments.
  • Ability to complete all plastering work to a high‑quality finish with minimal supervision.
  • Strong problem‑solving ability and adaptable to varying repair requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; customer‑focused approach to service delivery.
  • Awareness of equality, diversity, and up‑to‑date health and safety practices.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexibly when required.
  • Full UK driving licence is essential.
