Overview

Plant and Commercial Spray Painter & Refinisher – Cumbria + Competitive Salary

The Role: We are seeking an experienced Spray Painter & Refinisher to join a busy workshop team. You will be responsible for the complete refinishing process of plant machinery, agricultural and forestry equipment, and commercial vehicles — from surface preparation and masking to applying durable, high-quality finishes that meet both customer and in-house standards.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out all preparation work including sanding, masking, priming, and filling.
  • Apply professional paint finishes using spray equipment on machinery, vehicles, and bespoke fabrications.
  • Maintain equipment to ensure consistent and safe operation.
  • Work closely with fabrication and engineering teams to meet deadlines and specifications.
  • Complete documentation for all work, ensuring quality control at every stage.
  • Adhere to health, safety, and environmental standards in the workshop.
Candidate
  • Proven experience in spray painting and refinishing (plant machinery, commercial vehicles, or heavy equipment preferred).
  • Skilled in preparation, priming, and finishing techniques.
  • Excellent attention to detail and consistent delivery of high-quality finishes.
  • Able to follow technical specifications and customer requirements.
  • Flexible approach, willing to assist with wider workshop tasks as required.
Desirable
  • Vocational qualification in paint refinishing or equivalent training.
  • Knowledge of two-pack paints, coatings, and colour matching.
  • Experience across a range of finishes and refinishing methods.
  • Familiarity with paint-related health, safety, and environmental compliance.
