Planning Officer | JM RQ1609200 | £22.35 per hour PAYE | Contract Length: 6 months | 35 hours per week | Location: Greenwich, London SE18 6HQ
Our Client is seeking a motivated and professional Planning Officer to join our Development Planning team. Reporting to the Area Manager, you will be accountable for a significant area of work within planning, development control, regeneration, design, conservation, economic development, and project delivery.
Candidates will need to have a degree in Town Planning or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).

Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the Council’s planning, regeneration, and economic development policies and ensure effective implementation.
- Undertake a range of special projects, feasibility studies, and regeneration initiatives.
- Prepare and present reports for Committees and represent the Council at public inquiries, appeals, and hearings.
- Provide professional evidence at public inquiries and support statutory and non-statutory planning processes.
- Draft specifications, monitor progress, and assess outcomes of planning and regeneration projects.
- Support the development of a comprehensive planning and regeneration strategy.
- Ensure high-quality outputs are delivered on time and to agreed standards.
- Keep the Area Manager informed of progress, risks, and required actions.
- Support the supervision, training, and development of junior staff.
Communications
- Represent the Council at internal and external meetings, working groups, forums, and inter-borough consultations.
- Act as a key point of contact for enquiries from developers, residents, businesses, Government Departments, and elected Members.
- Provide clear and professional advice on planning policy, legislation, design, and regeneration matters.
- Liaise effectively with stakeholders and clients on planning and regeneration projects.
Essential Requirements
- A degree in Town Planning or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Sound knowledge of planning legislation, policy, and procedures.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities, with confidence to represent the Council at meetings and public forums.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
- Experience of working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Membership (or eligibility for membership) of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) is desirable.
