Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and skilled Physiotherapist to join the Integrated Community Stroke and Neuro Rehab team, within the Therapies Directorate at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. If you are passionate about rehabilitation of stroke and neurorehabilitation patients and have experience within the clinical specialty, we are looking for you to become a valued member of our team.

The team is a large integrated community team, consisting of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech & Language Therapists, Psychologists, Integrated Therapy Assistants, a Dietitian and Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner, working with patients in their own homes and some community clinics.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to rotate between the Stroke, Neurorehabilitation & Acute Brain Injury pathways.

The variety of Stroke and Neuro patients we encounter daily will allow you to extend your clinical knowledge and clinical reasoning in this field of practice.

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is ideally situated just a forty five minute drive from Manchester, and serves the residents of Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre and North Lancashire, including specialist tertiary care for Cardiac and Haematology patients. Blackpool offers a range of cultural and recreational opportunities and convenient transport connections to major cities.

Responsibilities
  • As a static Band 6 Stroke and Neuro Physiotherapist, you will be responsible for the assessment, treatment planning and rehabilitation of patients diagnosed with a neurological disability or who have survived a stroke.
  • You will support the discharge planning process via liaison with the multi-disciplinary team on the acute stroke unit to ensure timely and effective discharges for patients.
  • You will be provided with opportunities to develop your leadership skills and to engage in, or lead, service development projects.
  • You should be willing to support other team members in their development, including junior Physiotherapists, therapy assistants and students.
  • This will include active participation in clinical supervision sessions and an in-service training rota.
  • This full-time post (37.5 hours per week) requires weekend work on a rota basis. There is no on-call commitment.

Requirements
