Job description
Overview

We are currently seeking a Physical Testing Technician to join our team at the National Laboratory, Waterhouses, Staffordshire. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the analysis of Cement, Lime, Ash, GGBS, Concrete, and Mortar, using a variety of testing techniques. As part of our National Laboratory team, you will support technical enquiries and ensure all analysis is conducted in line with statutory legislation and our internal Quality, Safety, Health, and Environmental Standards., The Physical Testing Technicianworks as part of the National Laboratory team ensuring compliance with all relevant statutory legislation and the internal company Quality, Safety, Health and Environmental Standards.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure analytical and proficiency standards are maintained
  • Work within the laboratory team for the investigation of technical problems related to the use of Tarmac products
  • Assist in Sample Reception, as required
  • Assist in the maintenance of UKAS accreditation and implementation of Quality Management Systems
  • A pro-active approach towards Health and Safety and to maintaining a safe working environment
  • Become a fully integrated member of the team, developing the competence to perform all chemical tests and calibrations carried out by the department
  • Be flexible and self-motivated with a positive attitude; demonstrate commitment to continuous improvement and self-development
Qualifications
  • 5 GCSE's of Grade C or above (preferred subjects: Maths, English, Science)
  • A levels
  • City & Guilds or higher qualification in a relevant subject
Advantageous Experience
  • Good knowledge and appreciation of science
  • Knowledge of cement manufacturing and / or cementitious products
  • Previous laboratory experience
  • Calibration of lab equipment
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 & ISO 17025
