Job summary

A healthcare provider in the UK is seeking an experienced Phlebotomist to join their team. The role requires good literacy, numeracy, and communication skills, as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Responsibilities include obtaining blood specimens and ensuring they are correctly labeled and treated. Inexperienced candidates may apply if they have completed a venepuncture course prior to the interview. The position is physically demanding and will operate between 07:30 and 16:30 on weekdays.

Qualifications

  • Experience in phlebotomy preferred; inexperienced applicants accepted with completed venepuncture course.
  • Ability to work in a team and under your own initiative.
  • Physically capable of performing venepuncture.

Overview

University Hospitals Dorset has an opening for an experienced Phlebotomist. Do you have good literacy, numeracy and communication skills? Will you be able to work within a team and under your own initiative in this busy service? This role is physically demanding, requiring you to have great attention to detail and accuracy when performing venepuncture. Are you looking for a career and are you passionate about patient care? Then this is the role for you. Inexperienced applicants may be considered providing a venepuncture course has been completed prior to interview. The service operates between 07.30-16.30 Monday to Friday; 7.30-12.00 Saturday and Sunday and includes bank holidays.

Responsibilities


  • To carry out duties / responsibilities in accordance with the Trust and Directorate Policies, Protocols including Health and Safety Policies.

  • To greet patients in a courteous and professional manner.

  • To check the relevant details of patients requiring Pathology tests, resolving and outstanding difficulties.

  • Obtain by venepuncture or capillary sampling the correct blood specimens(s).

  • Ensure samples are correctly labelled, put into the correct containers and otherwise properly treated so as to be suitable for the analyses requested.
