Overview

The Pharmacy Department at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer a vacancy for a Senior Pharmacy Assistant. We provide full training to support you in transitioning into the hospital setting.

Responsibilities
  • Work under the direct supervision of the Dispensary Team Leader.
  • Supervise, provide guidance and direction to Pharmacy Assistants and Pharmacy Technicians within the designated area.
  • Ensure the delivery of dispensing and distribution of medicines, maintaining quality and standards.
  • Plan and manage own workload and that of the team to ensure services are delivered cost‑effectively and efficiently.
  • Support training and development of other staff, including appraisal and competency assessments.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new services, processes and procedures to deliver services in line with professional, local and national directives.
  • Maintain quality and standards by contributing to the development and implementation of new services, processes and procedures to deliver services in line with Professional, Local and National directives.
  • Coordinate medication preparation, supply, stock control (ordering, receipting, expiry checking), disposal of unwanted medicines and pharmacy computer updates.
  • Execute dispensary-based duties and line management responsibilities.
Professional Experience

A current pharmacy dispenser in a community setting who is eager to gain experience in a hospital environment. Enthusiastic about progressing into a management role.
