Overview

We are looking for a committed Pharmacist to join our team at HMP Forest Bank. You will work with a multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals and lead our existing technician workforce. The role involves the overall daily organisation, planning and co-ordination of all pharmacy services on-site. You will lead our onsite dispensary and focus on medicines management across the establishment. The welcome payment is payable to new candidates joining Spectrum Community Health CIC.

Main duties of the job

As a member of Spectrum Community Health you will be responsible for delivering a pharmacy service at HMP Forest Bank in line with GPhC standards and the recommendations outlined in "A pharmacy service for prisoners" and "Safer Prescribing in Prisons". This involves the overall organisation, planning and co-ordination of all on-site pharmacy services. You will work with the Medicines Management Pharmacist, other Spectrum Specialist Prison Pharmacists, Lead GP and other GPs, and the prisons to ensure prison pharmacy services are of the highest quality and integrated into Spectrum Community Health. In line with the well-being model of healthcare at HMP Forest Bank, you will help patients optimise their medicines by tailoring medicines and support to individual needs. You will identify unmet pharmaceutical need and assist in improving access and service efficiency, including reducing wasted medicines. You will encourage the development of better medicines management understanding among the wider healthcare and Prison Teams and promote good practice in line with therapeutic developments in prescribing decisions. This will involve assisting the Prison Health Care team in achieving NSF targets, NICE implementation, medicines management initiatives and the introduction of electronic prescribing. The post holder will uphold Spectrum Community Health"s Values.

Qualifications
Essential
  • Minimum Bachelor or Masters Degree in Pharmacy and further relevant post graduate qualifications
  • Evidence of relevant continuing professional development
  • Undertaken training for clinical therapeutics to specialist level, e.g. National Prescribing Centre therapeutic training
  • Pharmacist, registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
Desirable
  • Non-medical prescribing qualification
  • Experience of non-medical prescribing
  • RCGP Part 1 and 2 in Substance Misuse
Experience
Essential
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
