Position: Personal Care Assistant (PA)
To assist a 50‑year‑old wheelchair male user with complex needs. The role involves helping the user get up in the morning, preparing breakfast, carrying out computer tasks, assisting with exercises and stretches, cleaning, walking the user and the dog, and general life activities such as grocery shopping and coffee outings.
Pay: Total rate £18.62 per hour, paid every 4 weeks directly into your bank account (basic pay £16.62 per hour plus holiday pay about £2 per hour). This is a contract job, not self‑employment, with a National Insurance number and entitlements to employment benefits such as sick pay and pension scheme.
Hours: Flexible role with no set hours; hours of work will be on an ad‑hoc basis, as agreed with the employer.
Additional daily tasks: help user get up in the morning, prepare breakfast, assist with computer tasks, perform exercises and stretches, cleaning, walking the user and the dog, and general life activities such as grocery shopping and coffee outings.
You will be reliable and trustworthy with a commitment to accepting responsibility. Comfortable working independently and taking initiative when necessary, you will be diligent and conscientious in your approach. You must be able to work flexibly and adapt to the individual's needs.
Physical requirements: moving & handling (meet the job’s physical requirements).
Communication skills: You must be able to communicate effectively.
Patience: Vital to use patience and take time to understand the individual's body language and varying cues for support.
Flexibility: Health needs can change, and routines may need to alter; therefore, you will need to be flexible regarding shift patterns.
Organisation and Time‑keeping: Time management is essential as routine is very important, especially regarding medication and feeding. The PA is expected to arrive on time for shifts.
