A leading UK water company is seeking a Permitting & Regulatory Specialist. This role ensures compliance with environmental permits and submits necessary reports. Responsibilities include acting as a technical expert and supporting regulatory monitoring. Candidates should have a degree in Environmental Science or related fields, experience in environmental data management, strong analytical skills, and a passion for enhancing environmental performance. Our environmental performance is monitored and evaluated by our regulators using a range of measures, such as our compliance with our environmental permits, and the number and severity of pollutions incidents that we cause, which in turn informs our Environmental Performance Assessment (EPA). The regulator uses our data from Operator Self-Monitoring (OSM), Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive monitoring (UWWTD), and Air emissions monitoring to evaluate our environmental performance and compliance with our permits.
This role ensures compliance with the reporting requirements of our Environmental permits and submits the necessary regulatory reports so our environmental performance can be assessed. The role provides stakeholders within the business – Senior managers & the Exec – with data and a summary of our compliance position in numerical and FE flow limits and the requirements of our Air & Waste permits.
The role is a new multidisciplinary position across Water Discharge and Installations permitting regimes. It works alongside existing roles that fulfil regulatory reporting requirements and supports business notifications of new permit changes.
Hybrid working from our Reading office
Full-time, Monday–Friday (36 hours per week)
£46,565 – £53,000 per annum based on experience.
