Job description
Qualified PE Teachers Wanted in North Bristol

If PE teaching is your thing, Bristol has plenty of classrooms, sports halls, and muddy pitches waiting for you. We’re looking for confident, energetic, and adaptable PE teachers who can jump between practical sessions and theory lessons without breaking a sweat. Whether you’re a seasoned specialist or someone who loves inspiring young people to get moving, there’s a role here with your name on it.

What’s on offer?

We work with a wide mix of secondary schools and alternative settings across North Bristol, each looking for teachers who bring enthusiasm, structure, and a calm presence to their lessons. You can choose the type of work that fits your lifestyle:

  • Full-time classroom roles where you become part of the school community
  • Part-time or flexible timetables if you want a better work-life balance
  • Daily supply for variety, control, and zero planning
  • Long-term or temp-to-perm roles if you’re ready for something more stable

Whatever direction you’re heading in, we’ll help shape a working week that genuinely works for you.

What we’re looking for

You don’t have to be an Olympic athlete, just someone who loves the buzz of sport and the impact it can have on young people. Ideally you’ll bring:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification
  • Strong behaviour management and a calm, confident approach
  • Experience delivering both practical and academic PE, from fitness components and leadership modules to skills-based lessons
  • Flexibility to pick up different year groups and adapt to new environments
  • The ability to drive is helpful for getting around North Bristol's many schools, but it’s not a dealbreaker
What you’ll be doing

Depending on the role you choose, your days may include:

  • Delivering engaging practical sessions across a range of sports
  • Teaching theory topics like anatomy, physiology, healthy lifestyles, or sports psychology
  • Supporting extracurricular clubs, fixtures, and enrichment activities
  • Maintaining positive routines and clear expectations with each group
  • Collaborating with departments who genuinely care about student wellbeing and progress

Most schools we work with have strong PE teams, good facilities, and SLTs who understand the value of active, confident learners.

Why work with Protocol Education?

You’ll get the support you need, without the faff.

  • Weekly PAYE pay, no umbrella deductions
  • FREE access to our online CPD Academy, including safeguarding, behaviour training, and sports-specific modules
  • A friendly local consultant who knows North Bristol’s schools inside out
  • A fast, transparent registration process
  • Roles in mainstream, SEND, and alternative provision
  • A genuine focus on matching you to schools where you’ll feel valued

If you're not Thrive trained yet, we can even offer free Thrive Approach training, which is a huge plus for schools and brilliant for supporting student wellbeing.

If you’re ready to make an impact in PE, boost confidence, and help students smash personal bests on and off the pitch, we’d love to chat.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
