PE Teacher – Alternative Provision – Birmingham

An Alternative Provision in Birmingham is seeking a dynamic, engaging and resilient PE Teacher to join their amazing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to inspire and engage students who have faced challenges in mainstream education, using sport and physical activity to build confidence, teamwork, and a positive mindset.

The school has excellent leadership, dedicated teaching staff, and a strong pastoral team that provides outstanding support for both students and staff. You will be teaching small classes of students who require a tailored approach to learning, with a focus on participation, well-being, and personal development. This role requires a QTS PE Teacher who ideally has experience teaching students who have faced barriers to education.

Job Role:
  • Teaching PE to small groups of students with SEMH needs and additional barriers to learning
  • Planning and delivering engaging, practical lessons that encourage teamwork and resilience
  • Using sport to develop students’ confidence, behaviour, and social skills
  • Working closely with pastoral staff to support student well-being
  • Managing behaviour effectively, using a positive and structured approach
  • Encouraging students to engage in a variety of sports and physical activities
Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant coaching qualifications with teaching experience
  • Experience working with students with SEMH needs or within an Alternative Provision is desirable
  • A patient, adaptable, and energetic approach to teaching
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to engage reluctant learners
  • A commitment to supporting the personal development of students through sport
