A well-established organisation in the Nelson area is seeking a detail-focused Payroll Officer to manage end-to-end payroll processing across multiple sites. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys accuracy, confidentiality and supporting colleagues with pay-related queries.

Key Responsibilities
Payroll Processing
  • Prepare and process monthly payroll for staff across several locations
  • Ensure accuracy in salary calculations, deductions, statutory payments and pensions
  • Maintain secure, confidential payroll records
Compliance & Reporting
  • Ensure full compliance with HMRC legislation and pension requirements
  • Complete statutory returns, including year-end reports and pension submissions
  • Support internal and external audits with accurate payroll data
Employee Support
  • Act as a point of contact for payroll queries, providing clear and timely support
  • Offer guidance on statutory entitlements such as maternity, sickness and related matters
Systems & Data Management
  • Maintain payroll systems and employee data accurately
  • Process all starters, leavers and contractual amendments
Process Improvement
  • Contribute to improving payroll procedures and overall efficiency
  • Support the implementation of system updates or upgrades
Organisational Responsibilities
  • Collaborate closely with HR, Finance and Compliance teams
  • Uphold company values and contribute to a positive workplace culture
  • Participate in training, development and wider organisational initiatives
  • Promote equality, diversity and safeguarding where applicable
  • Adhere to company policies, including Health & Safety
  • Carry out additional duties as reasonably required
