Under the guidance of the Payroll Manager and Senior Payroll Advisor you would be assisting in the delivery of full end to end payroll processing.
We have an exciting vacancy for a talented and experienced payroll individual to join our payroll department located within the HR Shared Service function. You will be part of a collaborative team that is proactive and driven with a “can do” attitude. The team operates with a personal and friendly approach to ensure the employee lifecycle function associated with payroll is a positive experience.
The successful candidate will be adaptable to change and have the skill and ability to hit the ground running. Previous experience of working in a fast-paced, multi-complex and large-volume payroll department who enjoys working in collaboration with their colleagues will make this role a good fit.
Responsibilities
- Processing various pay frequency payrolls in accordance with company policies such as absence and overtime for over 5000+ UK employees.
- Processing starters and leavers with the ADP IHCM payroll system.
- Inputting all variable data including bonuses, commissions, overtime and time & attendance data within payroll and HR deadlines.
- Maintaining accurate records in the payroll system.
- Monitoring and administering employee benefits such as childcare vouchers, cycle to work, tech scheme, annual leave purchase, and nursery voucher scheme to ensure deductions are correct and reconciled for fast and efficient payments to the scheme providers.
- Having strong working knowledge of statutory deductions, including parental leave, SSP and AEO's.
- Assisting in the delivery of the company’s workplace pension, including reconciliation of pension contributions, opt‑in/out, increase or cessation of contributions, preparation of new starter uploads to the pension provider, and maintaining the pension log for audit purposes.
- Ensuring all PAYE liabilities are processed in accordance with HMRC guidelines.
- Recovering overpayments for current and former staff.
- Maintaining and responding to shared mailboxes, providing first‑line support for payroll‑specific queries and escalating as appropriate.
- Producing regular and ad‑hoc output reports to confirm and validate payroll data accuracy.
- Liaising with the wider business to build professional relationships.
- Actively participating in payroll projects to develop broader knowledge of payroll and business policies.
- Keeping up to date with legislative and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience within a payroll function.
- Experience/knowledge of ADP IHCM advantageous.
- Experience with manual calculations.
- Strong understanding of salary sacrifice schemes.
- Strong computer skills, confident in Excel including V‑lookups and pivot tables.
- Highly numerate.
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, to ensure a “Right first time” resolution to queries.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to adapt to changes and updates within the business.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement within a shared service environment.
