A local healthcare provider in Romsey is seeking a Patient Care Adviser to provide exceptional service to patients and support our clinical team. Responsibilities include greeting patients, booking appointments, handling patient queries, and ensuring smooth administrative operations. This full-time or part-time role requires strong communication skills and previous experience in customer service, preferably in a healthcare setting.

We work across two surgeries in the area. Full time 37 hours between 0800-1830 - days to be confirmed

Ensure an effective andefficient reception service is provided to patients and other visitors to thePractice.
Deal with all general enquiries, explain proceduresand make new and follow-up appointments.
Using your own judgement and communication skills,ensure that patients with no prior appointment but who need an urgentconsultation are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner. ExplainPractice arrangements and formal NHS requirements to new patients and thoseseeking temporary/emergency cover and ensure procedures and paperwork arecompleted.
Receive and make telephone calls as required. Divertcalls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt delivery to themost appropriate person.
When necessary, enter requests for home visits to the computer, ensuringcareful recording of all relevant details and where necessary, refer to theDuty Doctor.
Refer repeat prescription requests on to the prescription clerks. Whennecessary, file completed prescriptions accurately, hand to patients ensuringcorrect.
Advise patients of relevant charges for private (non General Medical Services)services, accept payment, and issue receipts/invoices for same when necessary.
Enter patient information on to the computer as required.
Maintain a thorough knowledge of all Practiceprocedures.
Email and photocopy as required.
Open post and distribute as required.
Scan and code documents as appropriate, ensuring complete accuracy, when required
Be able to cover all reception positions. Maintain aworking knowledge of unfamiliar tasks.
Ensure all administrative tasks are completedaccurately and thoroughly change of address forms, requests for medicalinformation, certificate requests etc. Accurately add the necessary coding tothe computer.
Have a working knowledge of the telephone system, during and after hours.
Have a knowledge of opening up premises at the start of the day when first toarrive, deactivate alarms and make all necessary preparations to receivepatients. When last to leave at the end of the day, ensure that the building istotally secured, internal lights are off and the alarm activated.
Clear rooms, communal areas and ensure the kitchen and waiting room is keptclean and tidy.
Undertake any other additional duties appropriate to the post, as requested bythe Partners or the Practice Manager.
Ensure a good working knowledge ofuse of the computer, coding, information gathering and data input. Maintain anddevelop this knowledge and ask for help if required.
Provide cover to ensure the smoothrunning of the Practice and to support the rest of the team
