Overview

Patent Paralegal – London / Hybrid Working

A leading intellectual property firm is seeking an experienced Patent Paralegal to join its growing support team. The role has a particular focus on European grant and validation procedures, offering both autonomy and support within a well-established paralegal team. You will benefit from direct client and foreign attorney interaction and will be joining a forward-thinking team that values attention to detail, initiative and professionalism.

The Role
  • Preparing and submitting Rule 71(3) EPC responses, including liaising with clients, reviewing claims translations, preparing official responses and managing reporting and billing
  • Reporting Decisions to Grant and obtaining validation instructions
  • Coordinating European patent validations via local agents and national filings
  • Reporting Certificates of Grant and monitoring opposition periods
  • Drafting and managing Powers of Attorney
  • Managing incoming correspondence and maintaining case deadlines and diaries
  • Recording assignments and name changes with the EPO and in validation jurisdictions
  • Reporting patent publications and providing general paralegal support to attorneys and clients
Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with patents and designs (not limited to EP/GB)
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication, numeracy and organisational skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Desirable
  • CIPA Administrator’s Certificate
  • Experience with client-facing communication
  • Familiarity with online filing systems and electronic billing platforms
