Job description

We are seeking to appoint a Pastoral Support Officer, which is a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic colleague to join our vibrant and successful school. The details of the post are: Contract status: Permanent, 39 weeks per year, 5 days per week (Monday to Friday), 35 hours per week, shift 8am to 4pm with a 60 minute unpaid break, Grade: Scale 5, Spine Point 12-15, Salary: £34,359 - £35,892. Start date: ASAP.

Overview

The Pastoral Support Officer’s primary purpose is to work alongside teaching staff, parents and students in inclusion, providing mentoring and support. The role will involve a mixture of dealing with parents, intervention groups, attendance issues, writing support plans and intervening with difficulties around the school in terms of pastoral support.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the Pastoral Team, Form Tutors, Heads of Year, Attendance and SLT to support students.
  • Contribute to all aspects of students’ well‑being and achievement under the direction of the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Write and implement support plans for individual students.
  • Intervene with difficulties related to school attendance and pastoral support.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure each student achieves their potential.
Qualifications
  • Holistic approach to developing students’ academic and wellbeing needs, especially when addressing EHCP provision.
  • Interest in working with young people and a desire to make a difference to their lives.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, ability to work under pressure, remain calm and manage conflicting priorities.
  • Energetic and enthusiastic with an excellent work ethic and a desire to go above and beyond.
  • Willingness to undertake an enhanced DBS check and cooperate with background checks.
