The role has oversight of progress and attendance mentors, enrichment provision, and targeted support for vulnerable groups, including Children Looked After (CLA). Working closely with curriculum teams, safeguarding leads, and external agencies, the Pastoral Leader(s) ensures that students receive timely, effective support that removes barriers to learning. The post holder(s) also leads on behaviour and attendance strategies, PHCSE delivery, and the monitoring and quality assurance of work experience placements, ensuring these contribute positively to students’ personal development, employability, and readiness for next steps. Through strong leadership, data‑informed intervention, and a student‑centred approach, the Study Programmes' Pastoral Leader helps create a safe, inclusive, and aspirational college culture where learners can thrive academically, personally, and socially.

  • Support the implementation of the college’s behaviour and inclusion policies.
  • Work with teachers, support staff, and senior leaders to create and maintain a positive learning environment through developing an effective enrichment programme.
  • Contribute to safeguarding and child protection processes, maintaining accurate records and ensuring concerns are addressed promptly.

  • Promote college‑wide EDI through enrichment.
About You

  • You are motivated by improving outcomes for all learners, particularly those who are vulnerable or at risk of disengagement.
  • You are confident working with Children Looked After (CLA), external agencies, and safeguarding teams to ensure students receive appropriate and timely support.
  • You are data‑informed and proactive, using attendance, progress, and behaviour information to identify concerns early and implement effective interventions.
  • You work collaboratively with curriculum leaders, teachers, and support staff, and are able to challenge and support colleagues to maintain high expectations for student conduct and engagement.
  • You have a strong commitment to personal development, PHCSE, and high‑quality work experience, recognising their importance in preparing students for further study, employment, and adult life.
