Location: Watford Campus WD17 3EZ
Salary: From GBP15,553.16 (unqualified) - GBP18,935.28 (qualified Level 5 teaching and above). Depending on qualifications and expertise. Contractual Hours: 18.50 Basis: Fractional

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 0.5 FTE Travel, Tourism & Aviation Teacher to join us at West Herts College, Hempstead Road, Watford. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is passionate about making a difference to the lives and careers of our learners. Teaching experience within the Travel and Tourism sector is desirable but we are keen to hear from anyone with a high level of industry experience. Teacher training can be provided for the right candidate. The ideal applicant will be proactive, student centred and be a strong role model to drive success. You will have a high level of knowledge within the travel & aviation industry that can be shared within the classroom environment as well as the ability to manage the progress of learners and support their pastoral needs, whilst monitoring course specific KPI's. The successful candidate will be skilful in developing a wide range of learning materials which engage and stimulate, teaching content will be linked to work-based experiences and develop skills that support students to reach higher potential with progression to employment, apprenticeships or Higher Education programmes. You will promote subject specific employability skills, embed English and Maths within teaching, be committed to providing prompt, detailed assessment of student work and provide learners with individual target setting to enhance their development. Teaching will be across Travel, Tourism, Cabin Crew and Aviation programmes level 1-3; some of the units included may be commercial operations of airports & airlines, aircraft emergency procedures, aircraft operations, ground operations, aviation communications, UK travel, coastal tourism, visitor attractions, specialist tourism, marketing in travel & tourism, passengers on board, aircraft emergency procedures. You'll have the full support of a dynamic team and opportunities to bring your ideas to the role. Training and development are at the heart of everything we do so you'll be encouraged to upskill. This role is 18.5 hours per week. The closing date for applications is Wednesday 3rd December 2025.
