Overview

Northwood House Charitable Trust Company Ltd is looking to recruit an experienced senior bookkeeper/accountant to join its team later this autumn. The Charity owns and manages Northwood House and Park in Cowes, which is now one of the Island’s leading hospitality and events venues. The Charity also manages a portfolio of office lettings and a large commuter car parking enterprise.

Responsibilities
  • Daily bookkeeping using Sage 50 accounting software, including producing/processing invoices and performing bank reconciliations.
  • Running the company’s monthly payroll.
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts to a high standard and reporting those to the Charity’s finance committee.
  • Preparing quarterly VAT returns.
  • Producing financial reports to support business decision-making and planning, including cashflow forecasting and budgeting.
  • Liaising with the Charity’s appointed accountants for the preparation of year-end reconciliations & supporting schedules.
  • Ensuring compliance with accounting and tax regulations relating to charities.
Essential requirements
  • Previous bookkeeping and payroll experience.
  • Proficiency in Sage 50 and Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others in a team environment.
Useful experience
  • Charity Accounting - Giftaid & annual returns.
  • Group VAT registration/management.
  • Using “Payroo” payroll software.
  • Oversight of utility contracts.
  • Managing business rates (mandatory & discretionary rate relief – applications).
Salaried/Self-employed rate of pay

From £18-20 per hour (depending on experience).

Hours

24-30 hrs Monday to Friday (with flexible working across weekday office hours).

Start Date

As soon as practical following the appointment.
