Overview

If you are looking for a new opportunity to support patients across the lake district, South lakes and Lancashire, UHMBT has a position for you!

A permanent vacancy has arisen for a Clinical Nurse Specialist to support our patients living with Parkinson's Disease for 22.5 hours per week.

Responsibilities
  • Act as a clinical nurse specialist. The post holder will assess, plan, implement & evaluate individualised programmes of evidence based care; providing specialist advice to patients, carers/relatives, and the multidisciplinary team on Parkinson's Disease. The post holder will work collaboratively and co-operatively with clinical and non-clinical colleagues to develop/improve services and quality of care delivered across the health economy.
  • Take a lead role in advancing the development of nursing practice as an expert in nursing.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive information, education and support packages for patients and their carers/relatives, including running a nurse-led clinic for patients with Parkinson's Disease, in conjunction with the lead clinician, medical team and divisional senior nurse.
  • Lead the development of clinical services following national and local guidance including NICE, in conjunction with the lead clinician, service manager and divisional senior nurse.
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Preferably at least one year of experience at band 6 (or equivalent) with leadership experience and experience in caring for patients with Parkinson's Disease, with insight and knowledge of the condition.
  • Dependant on knowledge and experience, the post is a development post. Commencing at band 6, developing to band 7 on completion of relevant training and meeting specified outcomes.
  • Full support, including a structured induction period, will be provided to help the post holder meet the requirements of the role.
  • Predominantly based at RLI with the requirement to travel cross bay.

We operate from three main hospitals: Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, plus a number of community premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre. The hospitals provide a range of services including emergency departments, wards, outpatient and day-case services, and a range of local outreach services.
