Position Overview

The Paramedic Specialist functions under the direction of the Emergency Department Medical Director. The Paramedic Specialist operates within a defined scope of practice that includes patient care and observation; specified treatments and procedures; provision of environmental and personal safety; effective communication. The Paramedic Specialist will adhere to National Patient Safety Goals and CMS guidelines as appropriate based on the level of patient contact this position requires. The Paramedic Specialist will also be responsible to collect pertinent data within their certified scope of responsibilities and effectively/efficiently report physical, clinical, psychosocial, etc., findings to the Charge/Care RN and ED duty physician.

  • Shift Differentials: $2.50 - $5.00 per hour

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited Paramedic Program with current North Carolina EMT-P Paramedic certification is required. A minimum of 1-year recent clinical experience in an emergency care setting to include: Emergency Services and/or Intensive Care Units (mobile or facility based.) preferred. Knowledgeable in the current practices and competencies of hospital-based paramedic care. BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications are required.
