Job Purpose: I am a young man who is looking for a Personal Assistant to support me with activities at home and in the community so I can develop my independence and social skills. I would like someone who could support me at home and shares my interests such as watching funny videos, playing board or video games occasionally or helping me develop independence skills such as planning and making pizza.

I would also like you to support me in gaining independence in the community, such as visiting the library or going for a walk and getting something to eat or visit venues. In the future, when I gained more confidence in the community, I would like you to support me with social groups and activities.

I would like my PA to have a basic knowledge of Dungeons & Dragons and, preferably, similar interests to mine. I like Fantasy, horror and sci-fi like Firefly. I also like rock music and food. I really enjoy creative writing projects, and I may like to share my ideas and thoughts around this. I would like for my PA to engage with me on my interests and help encourage me to try and expand my experiences/interests but be very patient and understanding as I can be very set in my thinking and put barriers up to prevent doing anything new or unfamiliar to me.

Location: Wymondham, NR18.

Person specification Essential: Good sense of humour. Someone who can remain calm and respectful if anxiety increases. Good understanding of Autism. Reliable.

Desirable: Shares similar interests. Training or understanding of Positive Behaviour handling/de-escalation would be helpful. Driver, clean driving license. I have a Motablility car and once you pass the probationary period you would be added to the insurance.

Summary terms and conditions: The rate of pay for this position is £13.50 per hour. Hours and times of work: 4 hours every other weekend during term times and 6 hours per week during school holidays (there is some flexibility with this) exact days and hours will be agreed ahead of time. The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work I would normally expect to be done during 5.6 consecutive weeks. This position requires the employee to complete the following free annual training: GDPR, Health and Safety, Food Hygiene, Autism, Positive Behaviour Support and Behaviours that Challenge training.

Post is subject to the following: A satisfactory enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, the cost of which will be covered by the employer. Satisfactory references from two referees, one of which must be your current or last employer. Completion of a satisfactory probationary period of 6 months.
