Job description

Are you an experienced construction programme planner looking to advance your career in a dynamic and impactful role? Join UK Power Networks' Capital Programme team in Bury St Edmunds as our new P6 Planner - EPN and become a vital part of delivering complex infrastructure projects across the nation.

Imagine working alongside passionate professionals, including Programme Managers, Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors, Designers, and Consents specialists-all driven to deliver excellence. As our P6 Planner, you'll manage and maintain the end-to-end P6 project schedules, ensuring every milestone, activity, and cost is forecasted with precision. You'll take ownership of the UKPN master schedule, independently reviewing contractor submissions, and supporting analysis through your NEC3 contract expertise. P6 is the heartbeat of our reporting, and you'll be entrusted with recording actual costs, maintaining data integrity, and delivering accurate month-end reports that shape key decisions.

In this role, you'll handle a portfolio within one of our Capital Programme DNOs, overseeing multiple projects at different lifecycle stages, collaborating with a diverse and talented team, and ensuring every schedule reflects the best view of our delivery ambitions. Your principal accountabilities include providing specialist planning, project controls, and schedule reviews for major projects, progressing master schedules independently, applying best practice governance, reviewing contractor schedules, reporting on schedule progress, applying project controls handbook requirements, and managing key milestones, dependencies, and risks. You'll also validate construction methodologies, integrate approved changes, maintain programme plans, incorporate risk mitigations, lead collaborative workshops, coordinate project interfaces, and obtain full schedule agreement from stakeholders.

UK Power Networks rewards your expertise with a competitive salary of £65,241 and a 3% bonus. You'll enjoy 25 days annual leave, plus bank holidays, as well as reservist leave, a generous personal pension plan, tenancy loan deposit scheme, season ticket loan, tax-efficient benefits including Cycle to Work, Home & Tech, and Green Car Leasing schemes, occupational health support, discounts at hundreds of retailers, discounted gym membership, and access to our Employee Assistance Programme.

To thrive in this role, you should bring an engineering-based degree or equivalent and, ideally, a programme management qualification. Your track record should demonstrate extensive experience managing complex construction programmes using Primavera P6 in multi-disciplined environments, technical prowess in resolving issues, and strong communication and presentation skills. Proficiency in standard office software and P6 planning, a collaborative spirit, and the ability to review and incorporate contractor schedules are essential.
