Responsibilities
- Sleep in but on call during the night as necessary
- Provide overnight care for students who are unwell in the medical bays
- Prepare drinks and snacks for unwell students in the medical bays
- Ensure the wellbeing of students during their stay in the medical bays
- Record general observations such as temperature, height and weight checks
- Administer over‑the‑counter medications as required under the nurse’s direction
- Administer prescribed medications under the nurse’s direction
- Monitor students when unwell and seek further medical advice where necessary
- Basic triage of any new admissions in liaison with the House Staff Team (admit to medical, NHS 111 or 999). Training will be given.
- Communicate with House Staff and Parents to provide condition updates where necessary
- Perform general housekeeping duties such as stripping beds, making beds, sorting laundry, and tidying the medical bays
- Stock take and keep stores replenished
- Check equipment daily (vaccine fridge temperature and AED safety checks)
- Carry out general administration tasks and electronic record keeping
- Provide first aid for students and staff (First Aid at Work training provided)
- Additional hours on Wednesdays taking students to outside medical appointments on an ad‑hoc basis
- Flexibility to meet the medical needs of the school community

- English and Maths up to GCSE level
