Job description
Responsibilities
  • Sleep in but on call during the night as necessary
  • Provide overnight care for students who are unwell in the medical bays
  • Prepare drinks and snacks for unwell students in the medical bays
  • Ensure the wellbeing of students during their stay in the medical bays
  • Record general observations such as temperature, height and weight checks
  • Administer over‑the‑counter medications as required under the nurse’s direction
  • Administer prescribed medications under the nurse’s direction
  • Monitor students when unwell and seek further medical advice where necessary
  • Basic triage of any new admissions in liaison with the House Staff Team (admit to medical, NHS 111 or 999). Training will be given.
  • Communicate with House Staff and Parents to provide condition updates where necessary
  • Perform general housekeeping duties such as stripping beds, making beds, sorting laundry, and tidying the medical bays
  • Stock take and keep stores replenished
  • Check equipment daily (vaccine fridge temperature and AED safety checks)
  • Carry out general administration tasks and electronic record keeping
  • Provide first aid for students and staff (First Aid at Work training provided)
  • Additional hours on Wednesdays taking students to outside medical appointments on an ad‑hoc basis
  • Flexibility to meet the medical needs of the school community
