Qualifications

Outreach Tutor / Outreach Teacher (One-to-One Support)

Location: Braintree
Pay: £22–£25/hour (Unqualified) | From £26–£30/hour (Qualified Teachers/Tutors)
Schedule: Monday to Friday minimum 3 days. Full or Part Time

Are you a compassionate educator with a desire to make a difference outside the traditional classroom? We're looking for a dedicated Outreach Tutor or Teacher to provide personalised one-to-one teaching to students not currently in education, supporting their confidence and foundation skills before they transition back to a school through our partner Alternative Education Service. You will be a nurturing teacher who can engage with the student's interests to help build rapport, trust and engagement for future education.

Whether you're working in a pupil's home, a local library, or an education setting, you'll be instrumental in helping the learner rebuild confidence, re-engage with education, and work towards meaningful academic outcomes. Additional students can be referred to you as well.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Delivering tailored one-to-one sessions in core subjects such as English, Maths, PSHE, and more to secondary-aged students
  • Building positive relationships with students and their foster families to foster trust and engagement
  • Adapting teaching strategies to suit individual learning needs and styles
  • Supporting students' academic progress alongside emotional resilience and personal growth
  • Maintaining accurate session records and progress reports
  • Using varied tools and resources to keep sessions engaging and impactful
What We're Looking For
  • Qualified or experienced educators with strong Maths and English skills
  • Background in working with young people – especially those with SEMH
  • Excellent interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills
  • Empathy, patience, and a student-centred approach to learning
  • Confidence working independently across different environments
  • Experience with risk assessing
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply – support available – cost £55.50)
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
