Job summary

An education agency in St Albans is seeking an Outdoor Learning Facilitator. The role involves leading outdoor sessions that inspire curiosity in children whilst supporting those with special educational needs (SEN). Ideal candidates are passionate about nature-based learning and have experience working with children. Responsibilities include creating a nurturing environment and collaborating with teachers to design educational activities that connect with the curriculum. This position is full-time with immediate or early 2026 start.

Job description
Outdoor Learning Facilitator

Location: AL3, Redbourn, Hertfordshire.

Hours: Full-time, 8:30am - 3:30pm

Start: ASAP or January 2026

Ideal Candidate
  • Has experience working with children in an unqualified teaching, support, or activity leader capacity
  • Enjoys being outside in all seasons and using nature as a learning environment
  • Can confidently support pupils with a range of SEN needs
  • Is patient, flexible, and creative in their approach
  • Wants to make a real impact on children's confidence, wellbeing, and engagement
Responsibilities
  • Leading outdoor learning sessions that inspire curiosity and build practical skills
  • Supporting pupils with SEN in small groups or 1:1
  • Creating a safe, nurturing environment where every child feels included
  • Working collaboratively with teachers and support staff
  • Helping design engaging outdoor activities that link to the curriculum
Qualifications
  • Experience working with children or young people (school, camp, youth work, outdoor education, etc.)
  • A passion for nature-based learning
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
  • Willingness to get stuck in, be hands‑on, and adapt to the needs of the day
