Job summary

A regional health board in Swansea is seeking an Ophthalmology Consultant to join their team. The successful applicant will be responsible for the well-being of patients, collaborate with consultants and staff, and improve service efficiency. Required qualifications include being on the Specialist Register with GMC and relevant postgraduate training. Qualifications

  • Specialist in OPHTHALMOLOGY or eligible for CCT within 6 months of interview.
  • Evidence of developing effective working relationships.
  • High standard of clinical skill and expertise in ophthalmology.

Responsibilities

  • Continuing responsibility for patient well-being and appropriate delegation.
  • Improve services in partnership with clinical and managerial colleagues.
  • Participate in the on-call rotas and emergency cover.

Effective leadership
Excellent interpersonal skills
Expertise in routine and complex cataract surgery procedures
Ability to communicate effectively
Ability to take full responsibility for clinical care

Education

On Specialist Register with GMC as a specialist in OPHTHALMOLOGY
Further relevant post graduate qualification in ophthalmology FRCOphth
Teaching qualification/Higher qualification in medical education
