Overview

QWM Group is expanding and we are looking to strengthen our team with an experienced Operations Manager to support our Leeds Depot. We specialise in Drainage, Industrial Services, Tankering, and Emergency Callouts, with depots across the UK.

Working closely with the Depot Manager, you will play a key role in the smooth running of day-to-day operations, ensuring that service levels and performance targets (SLA’s & KPI’s) are consistently met. This is a dynamic role requiring strong leadership, organisational skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

We are looking for a proven Operations Manager with strong leadership and organisational skills, ideally from a drainage, utilities, or industrial services background.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the organisation and planning of work for field operatives handling both planned and reactive jobs
  • Ensure all works are delivered within strict timescales and to the highest standard of safety and compliance
  • Take responsibility for company vehicles, plant, and equipment, ensuring they are serviced, calibrated, and maintained in line with legislation
  • Manage scheduling, liaising with Head Office, Depot teams, and Mobile Engineers to keep all parties informed
  • Ensure Health & Safety compliance across all operational activities
  • Support the recruitment, training, and retention of operational staff, fostering a motivated and high-performing team
  • Work both on site and within the depot office, ensuring smooth communication and operational flow
Skills & Attributes
  • Excellent planning and scheduling skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety compliance and operational legislation
  • Effective communicator with the ability to liaise at all levels
  • Confident in managing teams, driving performance, and ensuring accountability
  • Proactive and adaptable, with a solution-focused mindset
  • IT proficient with strong administrative and reporting skills
Requirements
  • Previous experience in a similar operational management role (essential)
  • Full UK Driving Licence (essential)
  • Experience within drainage, utilities, or construction/industrial services (desirable)
