Job description

Overview

Op RESTORE is an NHS service hosted by Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust that supports individuals who have served in, or are leaving, the UK Armed Forces and have continuing physical health injuries and related medical problems attributed to their time in the Armed Forces. The post holder will work on a new project aiming to digitalise and automate the Op RESTORE patient navigation pathway. Op RESTORE is the national veterans physical health and well-being service which supports individuals with service-related injuries navigating NHS and military charity pathways.

The post holder will be based primarily within Imperial College as part of Professor Aldo Faisal’s research group, with liaison to military charities and other statutory services. This is a remote-working post with occasional travel into London or other parts of England.

Responsibilities

• Develop an algorithm that enables an automated patient navigation platform for veterans in the OpRESTORE pathway.
• Develop a digitalised platform for collecting clinical information from the service user or GPs in a more efficient, digitalised format.
• Automate synthesis of data from medical records using natural language processing.
• Develop a smart referral questionnaire to improve data capture.
• Build a machine learning algorithm to automate parts of the health navigation journey.
• Identify patterns in OpRESTORE data and develop reports to improve data and service quality.
• Assess strengths and weaknesses in OpRESTORE data sources locally, regionally and nationally.
• Act as an advocate for veterans data analysis across the trust and more widely (nationally and internationally).
• Develop personal computing and programming skills and support the development of those skills in others.
• Support a broader move towards the use of data and analytics across the trust and beyond.

Location and Travel

Remote working with occasional travel into London or other parts of England.
