Overview

Occupational Therapist Disability Assessor

Location: Pontefract

Mixture of remote and assessment centre working, offering a good work-life balance.

About the role

As a Disability Assessor you will work autonomously to assess the cases of claimants who are applying for the Personal Independence Payment (PIP) benefit, as part of the DWP's Health Assessment and Advisory Services (HAAS). The funding helps support individuals to live as much of an independent life as possible. You will be completing assessments with individuals who have a broad range of health conditions, and you may conduct some assessments remotely.

An in-depth training programme is provided which is fully paid for, so you will feel equipped for your new role. The role counts towards your clinical hours, helping you maintain your HCPC registration.

Responsibilities
  • Use your clinical experience to work with people who have a diverse range of health conditions, understanding how their disability affects daily life.
  • Complete detailed, meaningful and respectful assessments over the telephone, video or face-to-face, in office or at home.
  • Interpret medical evidence and compile findings into a comprehensive report to support DWP decision-making.
Requirements
  • We can only accept applications from Occupational Therapists for this vacancy.
  • HCPC registration is required.
  • You must have at least 1 year of broad post-registration experience; UK experience is essential.
  • Proactive, keen to learn and receptive to feedback.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and IT competency is a must-have.
