Job description

Cygnet Joyce Parker Hospital is our emergency mental health hospital in Coventry. The service supports adults across four wards to move as quickly and safely as possible to the most appropriate and least restrictive environment for them. Our model of care promotes a collaborative approach whereby family, service users, commissioners and carers are all involved in the rehabilitation and recovery of the individual. There is a dedicated clinical team on each ward, who provide multi-disciplinary input including occupational therapy, psychology, psychiatry, and nursing staff. We are currently looking for an Occupational Therapist to join our Occupational Therapy Team to support recovery and rehabilitation activities in the integrated care pathway at Cygnet. In this role you will assess, implement and develop an OT treatment programme according to service user's diagnosis and identified needs. This will be based upon findings from assessments including associated risks, in order to develop treatment plans accordingly. Occupational Therapy Directorate Under the leadership of our occupational therapy directors we support over 170 Occupational Therapists supported by occupational therapy assistants. Working together as a large team we provide support to each other across the group, with the opportunity to be part of specialist interest groups & become involved in service development. Every service line has a clinical lead occupational therapist to lead and develop evidence based practice and agreed occupational therapy pathway. We ensure our occupational therapy team members have a voice through participating in service model development, utilising the expertise and support of our clinical lead occupational therapists.

Qualifications
  • A registered Occupational Therapist with the HCPC (Health Care Professions Council).
  • An understanding of working with individuals with a mental health diagnosis.
  • An understanding of Occupational Therapy process/interventions and can take a "hands on" approach.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Passionate about student education.
  • Ability to manage highly demanding clinical presentation.
  • Interest in the field of adult mental health / learning disabilities (ASD) mental health, Disability Confident.
